God instructs us to “.be yoked together with unbelievers..” (2 Corinthians , NIV).Therefore, we should intentionally court other Christians.Physically, courting is preserving sex for marriage alone to honor God and one another.There are lively debates around courting vs dating.In those days, courting was about getting to know your potential partner as much as possible in a safe, pure environment.Often, these courtships led to successful marriages that lasted lifelong.
Mentally, courting is really getting to know the other person with all their likes and dislikes.
Emotionally, courting is developing sincere care for the person and being authentic with your feelings.
Fast forward to today’s dating scene and we see surface-level connections, one night stands, and high divorce rates.
Obviously, many things have shifted in our culture and the practice of dating is definitely one of them.
There are four main differences between courting and dating.
Spiritually, courting is pursuing another Christian to become equally yoked.
