Asp net listview itemupdating findcontrol

I'm not certain how to get the button to use that Item Updating event of the listview control... This is what my page looks like at the moment: public partial class BBCheck In : System.

When I click the "Update" buttom (that is, the button to commit the changes - the one that should trigger the "Update" event), all it does on postback is the Page_Load event (which is empty). Page { protected void Page_Load(object sender, Event Args e) { } protected void List View1_Item Updating(object sender, List View Update Event Args e) { e.

Can anyone point me to some very beginner friendly documentation on how this works? // Because of this, I use the Item Updating event, which is fired BEFORE the "Update Method" event of // binding source.

From what I understand, I need to modify the event to basically say, on a Button Click event, if Command Name="Update" then [do x]. I can't create a button click event in the traditional way. Text = ""; Hidden Field lbl Defect Code ID = (lv Defect Codes.

protected void lv Defect Codes_Item Updating(object sender, List View Update Event Args e) { // this is used so that the control does NOT fire the "Update Method" event for the binding source.

Find Control("lbl Defect Code ID") as Hidden Field); Text Box txt Defect Code = (lv Defect Codes.

Item Command protected void List View1_On Item Command(object sender, List View Update Event Args e) { e.

Find Control("Check Box1") as Check Box; if (checkin. Write Line(checkin + " is " + Available); } } " Delete Command="DELETE FROM [Black Berry] WHERE [PIN] = @PIN" Insert Command="INSERT INTO [Black Berry] ([PIN], [Phone Number], [Model], [OS], [Carrier], [Status], [Current User], [Check Out Date]) VALUES (@PIN, @Phone Number, @Model, @OS, @Carrier, @Status, @Current User, @Check Out Date)" Select Command="SELECT * FROM [Black Berry] WHERE ([Status] = @Status)" Update Command="UPDATE [Black Berry] SET [Phone Number] = @Phone Number, [Model] = @Model, [OS] = @OS, [Carrier] = @Carrier, [Status] = @Status, [Current User] = @Current User, [Check Out Date] = @Check Out Date WHERE [PIN] = @PIN" using System; using System.

Find Control("txt Defect Code") as Text Box); Text Box txt Defect Description = (lv Defect Codes.

Find Control("txt Defect Description") as Text Box); Text Box txt Background Color = (lv Defect Codes.

I'm trying it, and I'm missing something obvious.

Find Control("Check Box1") as Check Box; if (checkin. Write Line(checkin + " is " + Available); } } } Item Updating is not the correct event to be using with a button control in a List View, this is used for two-way binding of the List View.
